The Treatment Procedure for Transcutaneous Electrolysis

Apply the positive dermal contact electrode (Unitab 2 inch by 2 inch resting) to the patient’s skin in an area that it will not obstruct the treatment process. Plug into the color-coordinated outlet on the power system. This electrode is an essential part of the galvanic current. Former Aavexx kits used a gel-coated stainless steel rod which would be held by the patient. The Unitab resting electrode provides multiple advantages. Only the negative side of the treatment process (clip, tweezer, q-tip, or 1 by 1 inch resting electrode) will result in destruction of hair growth. The hairs under this large positive side will be unaffected. The closer the positive patch is to the actual treatment area the more current you will be able to achieve. The Unitab resting electrodes are reusable. To prolong the life of each adhesive patch you may wish to always clean the skin (removing the dirt and dead cells) from the area in which the patch will be affixed. The normal life expectancy for a Unitab electrode is roughly 10 uses, if properly maintained.

1. Attach the electrode clip to the base of the hair (get as close to the skin as possible without having any portion of the gold-plated hook in contact with the skin). 2. Apply a small dab of high viscosity gel to the hair at the point where it is held by the clip. There is a small plastic applicator included with your gel-pack to facilitate the application of the electrolyte. Be sure that the gold-plated hook, hair, and skin are covered.

Tweezer No-needle Application
1. Coat the hair with the high viscosity gel making sure that it’s covered all the way down to the skin using the plastic applicator included. 2. Grasp the base of the hair with the tweezers. Gently pull the hair away from the skin until the tweezers are no longer touching anything but the hair. There should be a noticeable “bridge” of gel between the tweezers and the skin. Remember, human hair cannot conduct electricity. The hair chin gel is the only avenue for the electricity to jump over the dry hair into the moist (and highly conductive) follicle tissues below. Always maintain adequate gel to assure efficient treatment.
