Electrolysis
This formula was originally created to improve results achieved from regular electrolysis by adding 10-20
 molecular units of sodium hydroxide to the follicle shaft following the primary treatment session. As it turned out, many technicians
discovered it could produce results as well as regular electrolysis all by itself.
To understand what makes Topical Electrolysis® such an advanced and
effective system you must first understand the basic chemistry behind
regular electrolysis.
In that procedure, an electrified needle is inserted down alongside the
hair into the follicle. The electrical current changes the salt and water
inside the shaft into a highly caustic alkali called sodium hydroxide(1).
It is this chemical byproduct, not the electricity itself, which is
responsible for the destruction of the hair papilla and micro-vasculum
(capillary network). Amazingly, a drop of pure sodium hydroxide could burn
a hole instantly through your skin.
The active ingredient in Topical Electrolysis® is NaOH. What makes it such
a brilliant formula is that the sodium hydroxide is suspended in a
non-reactive anhydrous liquid called Methyl-Isobutyl-Ketone (a harmless
emulsifying solvent). Only after reacting with the high moisture content
inside the empty follicle shaft does it become caustic(2). Both the
formula and treatment protocol make it remarkably safe for the topical
application of sodium hydroxide.
All 24 dram kits contain: One 8 dram Pre-treatment Dermal Prep ampoule,
two 1 dram Activator ampoules, two 7 dram Base ampoules, hand-held vacuum
pump, reusable Cleanfoam square-tip applicator, disposable finger cots,
and instructions. A 96 dram kit will be adequate to treat the average
man’s chest and abdomen (or woman’s legs) 1-2 times. 1. (NaCl + H2O + e =
